Skye awoke for the second time that night. Even with his eyes now open, it didn't help because it was too dark to see. He felt the ropes around his body that bound him, but he was still too dazed from the drug to panic. His droopy head turned from side to side as he tried to take in his surroundings. Judging by the darkness and the sound of the waves, Skye could tell that he was indoors and on the water. But most importantly, he was alone.
With his legs the only part of his body that was free, Skye was able to rise to his feet. The young man's eyes finally adjusted and was surprised to see that everything in the room was modern. Even though

The Surfer and the Merman CH 28
"Skye!"
Skye opened his eyes from his dreamless sleep, only to see more darkness.
"Skye!"
He sat up and hit the leaves above him with his head. His eyes began to adjust to the darkness and was able to realize where he was.
"What is it, Cyan?" Skye called out. His partner was not beside him.
As Skye crawled out of the miniature fort, he noticed how he wasn't drowsy. He must have just have fallen asleep for an hour or so before being woken up.
As he walked across the sand he called again for the merman. His eyes still hadn't adjusted to the absolute darkness. Since they were on a deserted island, the only light they had was from the moon
